In 1884, Master Cutler Karl Elsener started his cutlery factory in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland. In 1897, he crafted the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife, which has become a worldwide icon for function and durability and the symbol for Swiss ingenuity. Since that time, the Elsener family has continued to craft tools in the Victorinox tradition of precision and quality, making Victorinox one of the largest producers of cutlery today and the choice of professionals worldwide.

The Blade: Each high carbon, stainless steel blade is hand finished at Victorinox in Switzerland by skilled craftsmen. A special tempering process is used to produce an edge that can be re-sharpened over and over again, so the knife can keep its original sharpness throughout the entire life of the blade.

The Handle: Each handle has been ergonomically designed to minimize wrist tension. They provide a natural fit. Forschner’s Fibrox handles are NSF approved, dishwasher safe and slip resistant.

All R.H. Forschner by Victorinox professional knives are conical ground on the full length of the blade as well as ground crosswise. This results in a wider break point with less risk of the blade breaking and less resistance for ease of cutting. Victorinox uses only first grade A quality steel x50CR MO composition, with a rockwell hardness of 55-56 HRC for high edge retention.
