About R.H. Forschner Cutlery by Victorinox
In 1884, Master Cutler Karl Elsener started his cutlery factory in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland. In 1897, he crafted the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife, which has become a worldwide icon for function and durability and the symbol for Swiss ingenuity. Since that time, the Elsener family has continued to craft tools in the Victorinox tradition of precision and quality, making Victorinox one of the largest producers of cutlery today and the choice of professionals worldwide.

Victorinox Cutlery comes from the makers of the Original Swiss Army Knife. In North America, the Victorinox professional line of stamped cutlery, known as R.H. Forschner, has become the tool of choice for professionals and has received consistently high accolades in industry product testing.

Now the same RH Forschner branded cutlery, which is so highly regarded and considered the “best in class” commercial cutlery, is now available for the home chef. Master cutlers have applied their unique ingenuity and techniques to design the highest quality, stamped cutlery line, which has been crafted in Victorinox facilities in Ibach, Switzerland since the late 1800s. The application of a conical ground, famous proprietary sharp edge and rigid quality control process is world-renowned. The result is a well-balanced, lightweight knife with a patented Fibrox slip resistant handle and high carbon, no stain blade with an edge that retains its razor sharpness.

It is beautiful design that brings these knives to life.
Individuality: With a wide range of knives available, select the proper knife for your individual preference and need. The correct knife is a safe knife.

Construction: Victorinox Swiss manufacturing offers the optimum combination of state-of-the-art knife technologies blended with old world craftsmanship. The result is unsurpassed quality that is recognized worldwide.

The Blade: Each high carbon, stainless steel blade is hand finished at Victorinox in Switzerland by skilled craftsmen. A special tempering process is used to produce an edge that can be re-sharpened over and over again, so the knife can keep its original sharpness throughout the entire life of the blade.

The Handle: Each handle has been ergonomically designed to minimize wrist tension. They provide a natural fit. Forschner’s Fibrox handles are NSF approved, dishwasher safe and slip resistant.

Balance: A good heft and a comfortable, positive grip are indications of a well-made knife.

Durability: A good knife will stand up to years of daily use without undue deterioration or wear.

Hygiene: Although cutlery steel is naturally sanitary, materials and construction details of the handle should minimize crevices that would offer hospitality to bacteria. Each Fibrox handle is NSF approved.

Safety: A sure-grip handle with a finger guard is a valuable feature since the handle inevitably gets greasy, wet, or both. Fibrox handles are slip resistant when wet for maximum safety.

All R.H. Forschner by Victorinox professional knives are conical ground on the full length of the blade as well as ground crosswise. This results in a wider break point with less risk of the blade breaking and less resistance for ease of cutting. Victorinox uses only first grade A quality steel x50CR MO composition, with a rockwell hardness of 55-56 HRC for high edge retention.
