This electronic food scale was designed by Stefano Giovannoni (2004) for Alessi. The scale features an 18/10 stainless steel mirror polished finish. It measures in both metric and standard measurements. Metric measurements increase in 1 gram increments up to 5 kg. Standard measurements increase in 1/8 ounce increments up to 11 lbs. Measurement selector is located on the bottom of the scale.
The electric scale's display includes an on/off button that illuminates when on, a tare button to zero out the measurement after adding your bowl or ingredients, and an LCD display that displays the type of measurement, the weight, and battery life. When using the tare function, a minus sign will also display to indicate the measurement of the tare after you remove your bowl or ingredients. The scale will automaticlly shut off after 3 minutes of inactivity to save battery power.
