A kitchen utility knife can be any medium-sized knife used to do any number of tasks in your kitchen. These blue-collar blades can be straight edged or serrated and ideally sized from 4" to 6.5"; larger than a paring knife but smaller than a chef's knife. A good utility knife has to be up to slicing anything from yesterday's grilled chicken for sandwiches to cucumbers for salad to string for a sachet d'epices. Traditional shapes can make a good general prep alternative to you primary chef's knife or can be used by a helper. Many serrated styles with paddle shaped blades are really efficient for common tasks like sandwiches and also make great bread knives. Browse around to find your next favorite knife!
