Vesper Martini

Conjured straight from Ian Flemingís Casino Royale, this infamous Martini was James Bondís cocktail of choice, named after Vesper Lynd, Bondís doomed double-agent girlfriend. This very potent cocktail appropriately calls for Russian vodka, symbolic of Vesper Lyndís allegiance to the Russians, served with an orange twist to complement the Lillet, a delicious replacement for vermouth, in Bondís preferred glass, a champagne coupe. Of course, this drink is shaken, not stirred.

  • 2 ounces gin
  • 3/4 ounce Russian vodka
  • 1/3 ounce Lillet Blanc
  • Large orange twist (or a traditional lemon twist)
  1. Shake the liquid ingredients vigorously with ice. Strain into a champagne coupe or chilled cocktail glass. Twist the orange peel over the drink, and drop it in.
