"FINEX Cast Iron Cookware Company is a small team of Portland based perfectionists dedicated to making heirloom quality cast iron cookware in the USA. Our work is inspired by the best in vintage American cast iron skillets and designed for today’s cooks and kitchens." - from the Finex mission statement
More than any other cast iron foundry, Oregon's Finex Company has embraced the aesthetic and heirloom potential of American cast iron cookware.
What's more, their design choices reflect an understanding of how cast iron cookware is used in contemporary American cookery, which helps to produce a better-performing product. The pieces are cast thicker for better searing performance, and cooking surfaces are ground and polished smoother, to improve release properties. The polishing also reveals a rich, faintly bronze-like luster that is complimented by a polished brass handle cap, and quick-cooling stainless steel spring handle. A fully cast, integral handle extends from the pan, through the spring where it is permanently fixed to the brass end cap. The cookware has the look, presence and weight of vintage cast iron, but with more finish. Octagonal rims and reinforced edges add tremendous strength, well beyond the average curved-rim pan. Finex cast iron is impressive and uncompromising cookware that any cook would be proud to own and pleased to use. It's seemingly made to last lifetimes, and with the intent that it be passed on as a cherished and sublimely functional heirloom. This claim is galvanized by the company's appropriately simple warranty policy:
"Good Forever. We will gladly replace any FINEX cast iron product that ever fails due to honest use."
