Kitchen Kapers was founded in 1974 as a family business. The first store was in the Echelon Mall in Voorhees, NJ. In subsequent years, stores were added in Cherry Hill, NJ, Center City, Philadelphia, and Princeton, NJ.
In the 80’s and early 90’s Kitchen Kapers expanded further into Pennsylvania by adding stores in Ardmore, PA, Chestnut Hill, PA, Chadds Ford, PA, and King of Prussia, PA.
In 1994 Kitchen Kapers purchased the Creative Cooking chain, which encompassed three stores in Delaware. In 1997, Kitchen Kapers opened a larger format prototype in Moorestown, NJ, which includes an interactive demonstration kitchen. In 1999, the company opened a new location in Wilmington, DE.
In 2000, the company expanded further into Pennsylvania’s Western suburbs opening in the town of Wayne at the Strafford Shopping Center, and in the newly renovated Exton Square Mall. In November 2002, the company opened its store in the Concord Mall in Delaware. We then opened a store located in The Shoppes at English Village in North Wales, Pennsylvania.
The company currently operates 13 retail locations, as well as a mail order division and website. It is still operated as a (growing) family business today, and is one of the largest independent kitchenware stores in the United States.
