Dave Dalquist, returned from WWII to start Nordic Ware in his basement along with his father, brother and wife Dotty. With only $500 in their pockets, a few good ideas and a desire to create a business of their own, a humble kitchenware company was launched.

Since then, Nordic Ware’s manufacturing capabilities, distribution and brand have flourished, assuring the company is well poised for the future. Undoubtedly, Nordic Ware’s most famous item is the Bundt® pan, which can be found in over 75 million households around the world. Few realize the name “Bundt” was coined and trademarked by our co-founder, Dave Dalquist, to describe the fluted design of the company’s unique ring cake pan. This original Bundt® pan featured a distinctive hole in the center that allowed cakes to bake evenly, and an elegant symmetry that made cutting and serving easy.

The original Bundt® pan rose to fame when it was used to bake a prize-winning cake in a national baking contest, and the rest, as they say, is history. The pan has found its way into the hearts and homes of people world-wide, and Bundt® cakes have become a beloved tradition for countless gatherings and family celebrations. Bundt cakes are truly the quintessential American dessert.
